153: Supply Chain - Procurement
Monday, September 24, 2007 // 1:00PM - 4:00PM
The Procurement Engineering and Receiving Inspection of Raw Materials
He will discuss a ten-point procurement procedure he developed for the purchase of base metals. These ten points can be reversed in order for cost-effective receipt-inspection criteria.

He will apply this procedure to the procurement of filler metals and atmospheres, and will end the night with a round-table discussion as to how lean-manufacturing and six-sigma principles might improve this procedure to an assembly of parts.

Building an Effective Procurement Organization to Support Global Supply Chain Management
Specifically, this presentation will:
1. Describe and contrast the difference between the typical Procurement organization structure and the new, more progressive Procurement organization that includes the roles of:
 Supply Assurance Specialists
 Global Sourcing Specialists
 Negotiations & Agreements Specialists
 Supplier Process Engineers
 Supply Chain Cost Analysts
2. Drill-down on each of these roles, describing exactly what each role does on a daily basis by providing a "month-in-the-life-of" pictorial of each role.
3. Present the basic tools each of the new procurement team members needs to properly execute their roles.

Participants will learn how to organize a Procurement function and what should be expected of each of the new roles within the function. Minimum performance expectations for each role will also be provided.
